This last weekend my girls were invited to their first ever birthday party! My girls are 2 and 1, but for some reason I felt at a complete loss trying to decide what to give this little boy for his first birthday. Maybe because he’s a boy? I don’t know what it was.
Here’s the thing about handmade gifts, if executed well it can be something special and mean more than a store-bought gift, and it’s usually a lot less expensive. Our gift to Michael was quick and free, but Lenna got to be a part of the process.
On friday I showed you my inspiration for Bev’s blanket (it was inspired by a wooden fence, in case you missed it), and today you get the details!
I guess it’s just a spin on the classic square pieced quilt, but this blanket is especially soft and flexible. It gets squished and crumpled any time Bev gets her happy little hands on it!
I second guessed the project part-way through (don’t worry, I love the end result… you can keep reading) and I’ll tell you why:
I had an idea. Take a simple ring and wrap a doily around it. I just bought a small doily at the fabric store for a couple dollars and some simple rings.
With this project, your child will create a stuffed toy of their own imagination. It’s fun for them to play with their creation, but even more special as a keepsake later on. I’ve loved seeing some of the darling crayon stuffies so far.
